Sharing Holiday Cheer!

This year our residents combined a Holiday party with a parenting class for community families. The Holidays and parenting can be a challenge and since we have seen the impact our parenting classes are making on local families, we wanted to share some skills to help everyone enjoy their Holidays. While the parents learned some new practical parenting skills, the kids got to decorate and eat cookies and make their own ornaments. Santa and his elves arrived and shared a gift with each child. Salsa Party!

Salsa Party « ‹ 1 of 6 › »   We had a great harvest from our garden this year and we thought the best way to celebrate our healthy bounty of fresh vegetables was to throw a salsa party for our after school kids. Innovative Patient Education

  Early this month, twelve of our patients with a diagnosis of hypertension whose blood pressure (BP) had not been controlled, attended an innovative group visit. The visit had three components.  The first was educational.  Patients were educated about the causes of hypertension and how it can be controlled by Dr. Josh Bettner, one of our 3rd year residents.  The second component involved relaxation and mindfulness led by our integrated behavioral psychologist, Dr. Heather Martens.  Pre and post blood pressure readings demonstrated that the technique significantly reduced BP.  Finally,...
